INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROLS ENGINEER

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engineering, design, and technical specifications of I&C systems and ancillary components
  • Preparation of P&ID inputs, instrument index, and instrument selection
  • Design control system architecture
  • Create I/O count and assignments, instrument loop diagrams, instrument datasheets and sizing, instrument UPS load requirements list
  • Perform sizing calculations for inline instruments
  • Design PLC panels
  • Preparing instrumentation lists for procurement
  • Prepare cable schedule inputs
  • Prepare junction box termination drawings
  • Preparing system descriptions
  • Preparing SDKs and control philosophies/narratives
  • Produce I&C drawings OR direct drafters in producing I&C drawings and conduct review of drawings produced by drafters for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate level of detail before issuing to the client
  • Evaluate technical submittals from vendors and may perform capital equipment and construction cost estimates
  • Witness start-up, testing, and commissioning of control systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of I&C design related experience in the field of Power Generation. DCS experience with CHP/CCHP Systems is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in I&C, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office

SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage execution of electrical engineering projects including power, power distribution, lighting, and instrumentation & controls;
  • Determine electrical requirements for projects;
  • Conduct on-site investigations, as required;
  • Write technical reports;
  • Perform engineering calculations, develop electrical engineering designs, and prepare electrical engineering drawings and specifications by interpreting or reviewing concepts, sketches, specification sheets, client requirements, and other data;
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate electrical building and construction materials;
  • Ensure compliance of designs to applicable guidelines, specifications, codes, standards, and other regulations;
  • Prepare complete tender/construction packages; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • P.Eng. (Ontario) Designation;
  • 7+ years electrical (power, power distribution, lighting, and instrumentation & controls) engineering experience in Canada (preferably in a consulting engineering firm);
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English; and
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office.

Desirable:

  • Project management experience
