Structural Engineering Manager

Reports to the Engineering Manager. Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the Structural Department in support of the company policies, goals, and objectives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Salary commensurate with experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the activities and operations of the Structural Department
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the Structural Department
  • Overall responsibility for planning engineering projects/customer orders within the structural engineering department
  • Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals, and present engineering reports and findings
  • Schedule and maintain the structural engineering workload, budget and manpower allocation
  • Assign, coordinate, and review the technical work of the Structural Department or project teams
  • Recruit personnel and oversee development and maintenance of Structural Department in required areas
  • May participate directly in the design, development, and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the Structural Department
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Skills

  • Holds Ontario Professional Engineers Licence
  • Holds BCIN Registration
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Structural Engineering discipline, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years management experience
  • Management of projects including planning, coordination, scheduling, and budgeting
  • The ability to communicate effectively within the company to lead the team towards the successful completion of projects
  • The ability to communicate with potential or existing clients to understand their needs
  • Strong computer skills

Building Services Manager

Salary commensurate with experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the activities and operations of the Building Services Department
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the Building Services Department

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute in planning and designing major structural engineering projects
  • Conduct research for determining project requirements
  • Develop, prepare, interpret and/or review engineering designs, drawings, plans, diagrams, or layouts from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials
  • Ensure compliance of designs to guidelines, specifications of building codes, and other regulations
  • Act as project supervisor for on-site work, as required
  • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
  • Write technical reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Electrical Professional Engineer

Structural Detailer

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create 3-D structural models, generate fabrication, erection and/or assembly drawings, and generate electronic files for CNC equipment
  • Interpret engineering and architectural drawings
  • Apply connections to the structural joints
  • Generate and clean shop drawings; prepare and clean part drawings
  • Run Xsteel preliminary material reports, bolt lists, and purchased item lists
  • Communicate with clients to resolve document discrepancies and missing information
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of Steel Detailing experience AND Minimum of 3 years using Tekla X-Steel, Catia, AutoCad or other detailing software.
    Preference will be given to Detailers with certification or experience and applicants with Engineering and/or Drafting Course Diplomas.
  • Proven industrial, commercial, and institutional structural engineering and structural steel detailing experience
  • Connection design experience of simple handbook connections
  • The ability to communicate effectively within the company to lead the team towards the successful completion of projects and the ability to communicate with potential or existing clients to understand their needs
  • Team Player with a proven history of accuracy and productivity

Systems and Accounting Administrator

Reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Multi-faceted individual who will be responsible for managing the computer network as well as invoicing and accounts receivable and therefore is an integral part of the success of the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area network, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment
  • Evaluate and install computer hardware, operating systems software and software applications
  • Provide problem-solving services to network users
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade Web-server hardware and software
  • Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
  • Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Maintain company website
  • Assign project numbers and coordinate staff assignments to projects
  • Administer timesheets for professional staff and prepare customer invoices using QuickBooks
  • Issue invoices and account statements to customers and follow up on collections
  • Reconcile transactions related to invoices and accounts receivable
  • Complie revenue budget and forecasts
  • Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems
  • Perform related duties, such as maintaining filing and record systems

Qualification and Skills

  • Completion of University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Network Administrator Certification with 5 or more years experience in network administration
  • Experience with Accounting Software (QuickBooks preferred) and customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong computer skills especially with Microsoft Office
